Ronald A. Stack

Ron is one of the founders of Distant Focus Corporation. During the early years at Distant Focus he also served as a Visiting Research Engineer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) from 2001 to 2006. Prior to the creation of Distant Focus he was a full time research engineer at UIUC from 1997 through 2001. During this time Ron was in charge of optical system design, Beowulf supercomputer design, and sensor network development at UIUC's Photonic Systems Group at the Beckman Institute. Ron received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1995 and 1997 respectively.

Prior to Ron's academic career he worked for 8 years at McCain Manufacturing Corporation, a leading manufacturer in high end book binding machinery throughout the world. During this time he worked closely with engineering and manufacturing helping with modifications in product design to improve functionality and performance of the product. This experience has given him a unique perspective on system design and an ability to get a deliverable out the door.
